“I couldn’t bring myself to shaving my head so I got into a habit of wearing caps all of the time instead. If I was going out to a special occasion I’d wear a smart flat cap instead looking like a Peaky Blinder!”

Rejecting surgery and struggling with a hairpiece
Lee researched travelling to Turkey for a hair transplant but decided the uncertainty of surgery was not right for him.
“Cheap yes but I had read good & bad stories about this treatment & I personally didn’t want to take that chance.”
He then agreed to become a practice model for a fitted front hairpiece. The piece was styled into his longer hair, while brunette dry-shampoo spray disguised the thinning area behind it. Although the initial effect looked convincing, the practical reality quickly became difficult. The colour transferred onto his hands, forehead, pillowcases, towels and clothing. The hairpiece also needed to be removed and refitted every six to eight weeks and replaced approximately every six months.
A hot holiday brought the experiment to an end.
“The final straw for me was a trip to Greece which was a million degrees & the glue was literally melting the hair piece off my head & the brunette spray dripping from my scalp, not good.”
Lee removed the hairpiece, stopped using the spray and returned to relying on his cap.
