Rebecca Brown of Permanent Perfection Aesthetics is a proud national winner at the British Hair & Beauty Awards—earning the title Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) Specialist of the Year. BHBA is a leading, credibility-driven benchmark for our industry.

How the awards work

  • Professional standards verification: Entrants are checked for insurance, qualifications, and best practice.

  • Independent, anonymous judging: Multiple external judges score finalists against set criteria; results are averaged for fairness.

  • National recognition: Rankings highlight the UK’s top performers in each category.

  • Annual celebration: The British Hair & Beauty Awards bring the industry together to recognise excellence and raise standards.

Why this matters for your SMP treatment

  • Safety & professionalism: Shortlisting confirms robust hygiene, compliance, and client care.

British Hair & Beauty Awards Winner — Scalp Micropigmentation Specialist of the Year

I started my business in 2011 with one clear intention: to help people feel like themselves again. After witnessing a close family member go through chemotherapy, I saw first-hand how treatment can affect confidence and wellbeing.

That experience still drives everything I do.

What began as a home studio is now a vibrant aesthetics clinic serving women and men across the North West.

I’ve grown from semi-permanent makeup into a full suite of treatments—most notably Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)—alongside laser, body contouring, and plasma pen. The focus never changes: safe practice, natural-looking results, and genuine care.

Award-Winning Standards

I’m proud to be the British Hair & Beauty Awards (BHBA) Scalp Micropigmentation Specialist of the Year—a prestigious national title that recognises consistent outcomes, technical excellence, and client care.

This independent accolade confirms what my clients already know: you can expect high standards, transparency, and results that look convincing in real life, not just online.

What Sets Me Apart

  • Your goals, delivered: I’m obsessed with aligning results to your vision—meeting and often exceeding expectations.

  • Truly personalised consultations: Every client is unique. I listen first, then design a plan that fits your features, lifestyle, and comfort level.

  • Natural, undetectable finishes: From ultra-soft hairlines and temple restoration to density blending and scar camouflage, SMP should read as you—but refreshed.

  • Technical depth: Precision hairline mapping, shade selection matched to your undertone, dot size/spacing calibrated to your skin, and layered sessions for realistic depth.

    Scalp Micropigmentation FAQ

    What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

SMP is where a qualified artist uses specialist equipment to implant tiny dots of medical-grade pigment into the scalp. Combining the artist’s skill and high-quality equipment gives a natural and realistic appearance of hair follicles.

In addition, the treatment is exceptionally versatile as it can be effective in several ways. When done correctly, SMP can create a variety of different looks. If required, the finished treatment will look like you have decided to shave your head.

Furthermore, SMP excellently creates the appearance of thicker, fuller and more dense hair. The procedure works well on the the whole head, crown/hairline, density work, and for men and women alike.

What happens during the Scalp Micropigmentation consultation?

During a Scalp Micropigmentation consultation, Rebecca will want to understand the results the client would like to achieve.

Results are always the starting point as we want to ensure you get precisely what you require. Next, Rebecca will discuss a bespoke treatment plan outlining the number of sessions, action plan, cost, and aftercare protocol.

She will also discuss the equipment and pigments used and answer any other queries that a client may have. Furthermore, she can even arrange for you to meet with someone who has had Scalp Micropigmentation done by her to see how excellent her work is. You will also get a reliable account of what the procedure feels like and how transformative the process is.

What Scalp Micropigmentation equipment do you use?

The first tool used is the artist’s knowledge. She will carry out a thorough consultation to fully assess your specific situation. Then, a treatment plan and pricing will be agreed upon.

Moving forward, your hairline will be mapped out in line with your features.  The treatment itself uses medical-grade pigment and smaller needles than regular tattoos. Meaning the pigment does not age or fade in the same way, and the treatment is much less painful.

Session time can vary depending upon the work required. 1-2 hours is a helpful guide.  To make it easier for you, we are available for evening and weekend appointments across 2 locations.

When will I see Scalp Micropigmentation see results?

The great news is that you will see beneficial results after the first treatment.

The artist builds the desired effect over multiple sessions but covers the whole area during each session. Once a session is completed, it is normal to see redness in the treated area.

When Scalp Micropigmentation results can I expect?

Full Head SMP – The appearance of a full head of shaved hair, with a restored natural hairline & crown

Density SMP – The appearance of thicker, fuller-looking hair in the desired areas, matched to your current colour and tones

Hairline and or crown – A natural-looking restored hairline and or crown blending in with your current hair

Scar Transplant Cover-Up – Camoflaguing of scared / donor areas

Female SMP – The appearance of thicker, fuller-looking hair in the desired area’s

Alopecia – Full restoration of a natural-looking full head of shaved hair with a restored natural hairline & crown (we can also restore eyebrows)

How long does Scalp Micropigmentation last?

The good news is that SMP is a permanent solution, meaning the return of your confidence will also be!

However, over the years, the treatment will fade slightly, so we recommend getting a top-up. The time to need a top-up can vary from client to client and relies upon factors such as skin type and lifestyle, however, as a guide. We would say that once every 2 years would suffice.

    Does Scalp Micropigmentation hurt?

Everyone feels pain in different ways but from our own experience and our clients we can say there isn’t much pain at all.

The sensation is more discomfort than pain. For those that have had a tattoo Scalp Micropigmentation is much less painful.

How many Scalp Micropigmentation sessions will I need?

Again, this can vary, but 3-4 is a helpful guide. This will be agreed during the consultation.

How often are the Scalp Micropigmentation sessions?

Sessions need to be spaced out 7-10 days apart to let the pigment settle properly.

Can I have Scalp Micropigmentation after a Transplant?

The good news is, yes, you can. However, we would always recommend that you wait 12 months for the transplant date.

How do I care for my Hair Tattoo?

Scalp Micropigmentation Aftercare starts before the first session!

So, on the days leading up to your first appointment, it is essential to exfoliate & moisturize. Also, it is vital to ensure your scalp is clean on the day of your sessions.

After your treatment, it is essential not to get your head wet or sweat for 7 days which can cause the ink not to settle properly. After 4 days, it is possible to apply a small amount of water with the hands to clean the scalp but ensure you don’t expose your scalp to direct water sources, e.g., showering.

After 7 days, you can shower and resume physical activity that would cause you to sweat.

Long term aftercare regimens include daily moisturizing of the SMP area

I have a busy lifestyle. How will scalp micropigmentation treatments fit into it?

One of the many excellent benefits of scalp micropigmentation is the procedure’s non-surgical, non-invasive nature. Meaning there is minimal disruption to busy schedules.

So, whether you have a hectic work schedule or spend a lot of time doing physical activity, scalp micropigmentation can and will fit around your life.

We offer weekend and evening appointments at 2 clinic locations in the Northwest and will be able to plan in sessions for you. So, you can factor in things like gym sessions around your treatment and aftercare schedule.
